“The Bruichladdich distillery, one of the best whisky producers on the island, has just introduced The Botanist, Islay’s first gin... It’s made with nine of the classic gin flavourings, or “botanicals,” such as juniper, coriander seed and orange peel, as well as 22 native island plants. Weird and wonderfully named stuff that sounds like something out of Harry Potter – creeping thistle, lady’s bedstraw, tansy, mugwort and gorse. Some are leaves, some are flowers. They all add up to a complex, floral, fresh spirit.”

The Botanist : A New Oscar-Worthy Gin LA Weekly, April 26, 2012 - Jen Garbee

“…The Botanist (It even sounds like an Oscar nominee, no?) is vibrant, clean and fresh -- certainly not the sort of gin to be muddied with olives, vermouth or other additions. It's layered with so many hints of flavor, we can't quite decide where to start. The fruits of all that foraging, we imagine. That we've never actually tasted creeping thistle and gorse flowers might have something to do with it. This is, straight up, one excellent gin.”
